We hereby present the catalogue for an exhibition dedicated to Krzysztof Penderecki, held at Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art from May to September 2021.

The publication contains texts by Maria Anna Potocka and Marek Stachowski as well as a piece compiled by Potocka based on Krzysztof Penderecki’s words.

Whatever the musical function of Krzysztof Penderecki’s visual-notational works is and will be, they can also be seen as complete visual compositions,” writes Maria Anna Potocka in the catalogue. “In this moment, the question of what they open disappears. Where they flow from becomes important. The source in question is a person, who composes his emotions into order and, seeking to capture a secret, discloses impatient energy. In so doing, the passion and joy of confession are manifested. The music cannot be heard, but its exultation and tensions are felt.

The illustrative section of the publication features works by Krzysztof Penderecki: selected scores as well as sketches of the garden, along with photographs of the manor and park in Lusławice by Bartek Barczyk, Marek Bebłot and Potocka. The catalogue also includes portraits of Penderecki by contemporary artists Marcin Maciejowski, Bartek Materka and Beata Stankiewicz, as well as selected photographs by Marian Eile from the series A Return Visit: Dali at the Pendereckis.
